Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven

Ronald "Ronnie" Cooper, 80, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 25, 2024, in Southaven, MS, with his family by his side. A visitation will be held in his honor on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., at Getwell Road Church (7875 Getwell Road, Southaven, MS 38671). A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m., also at Getwell Road Church. Interment will be at Desoto Memorial Gardens. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road, East, Southaven, MS 38672) is in charge of arrangements.

Ronnie was born in Myrtle, MS, on September 10, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lena Cooper; sisters, Diane Bolen and Carolyn Wright; and his two brothers, Eugene Cooper and James Cooper.

He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Betty Williams Cooper of Southaven, MS; son Michael (Mickey) Cooper of Hernando, MS; two grandchildren, Owen Cooper and Ford Cooper of Hernando; five sisters, Joanne Carson, Norma Coltharp, Patricia Kay Phillips, Barbara (Bob) Pugh, and Cheri (Rex) Voyles; and his brother-in-law, Ted Williams (Brenda); and many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Ronnie graduated from Memphis State University obtaining his bachelor's degree in business in 1968. He then later served in the United States Army from 1968-1970. In the same year as graduating, he married the love of his life, Betty. Together, they weathered life's ups and downs, and remained deeply committed to each other. Their love was a true love story. When Ronnie was battling cancer, he never became down as Betty remained by his side and lovingly cared for him.

A truly devoted family man, Ronnie was a hardworking real estate investor, who "lived to work." He was the retired owner of Mississippi Realty and Appraisal Service. He was also a past member of the Northwest Board of Realtors, MLS and the Appraisal Institute with the designation of SRA. He was a much loved member of the real estate community, nurturing many others in establishing their careers in the profession.

Ronnie enjoyed playing golf and traveling when he was able. He held a great love for his grandchildren, Owen and Ford Cooper, and was a very dedicated husband, dad, and grandfather. Ronnie had a humorous personality. He was a faithful member of Getwell Road Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Getwell Church () in Mr. Cooper's honor.

Expressions of condolences may be left on his Tribute Wall at .
